Cumin powder is a spice that frequently used in Indian, Mexican and around the world. You can buy it at the store, pre-ground, or if you really want to up your flavor game, try making it fresh in your own kitchen.
To make approximately 1 teaspoon of cumin powder, start with two teaspoons of cumin seeds. Toast them lightly in a dry pan on the top of the stove until they are lightly roasted (2-3 minutes).
Place them in a spice grinder (or mortar and pestle), and grind to a fine powder.
Voila – fresh cumin powder!
